My Father Is on the Tree - أبي فوق الشجرة
$625.00Popular actor-singer Abdel Halim Hafez stars as a college student who visits Alexandria with friends for a two-week summer vacation. He courts his sweetheart (the lovely Mervat Amin) but she is reluctant to return his advances, so he begins an affair with a dancer played by Nadia Lutfi. As his life spirals into depths of despair and abuse, his friends and family begin to shun him, until his father (Imad Hamdy) intervenes to bring him home and he realizes how far he has fallen. The film featured a number of song and dance scenes on the beach, and the song Love Came to Us became a hit because of the film's popularity.
Poster artist Marcel created a uniquely passionate and emotional work, highlighted by the provocative embrace of Abdel Halim and Nadia in the throes of their ill-advised affair. The brushstrokes are colorful and chaotic, hinting at a tumultuous and ultimately doomed relationship. Even the titles are arranged in a haphazard style that suggests a roller coaster of events and emotions.
