Sayed Darwish - سيد درويش
$400.00This black and white musical explores the tumultuous life of beloved Egyptian musician Sayed Darwish (played by Karam Motawie), spanning the years from his early childhood to the events surrounding his untimely death at the age of 31. Considered the father of popular Egyptian music, key scenes in the film depict his musical education in Syria, his collaborations with musician Salama Hegazy, his romantic relationship with dancer Galila (Hind Rustum) and conflicts with his family, who did not support his artistic ambitions.
Karam and Hind gaze out from this poster, appearing in mid performance above an adoring crowd that is rendered in a line illustration. Another line illustration depicts a traditional song performance, above the film title in bright red. The poster is an attractive design from the era and a suitable homage to the performers, as well as the life of Sayed Darwish.
