The Bride’s Mother - أم العروسة

One of the most important films to emerge from Egyptian cinema, The Bride's Mother was selected as an Academy Award entry for Best Foreign Film following its debut. Director Atef Salem leads a cast that includes acting luminaries Samira Ahmad, Imad Hamdy, Hassan Youssef, Youssef Shaaban and Madiha Salem. In this charming comedy, the father of a large family struggles to cover the costs of marriage for his eldest daughter. His solution of “borrowing” the needed money from his company results in further complications that are aggravating and humorous.
