Set around a stone quarry, this gritty tale of lust, infidelity, and murder involves Gasser, Nargis, and her husband Ismail. Ismail, played by Tawfiq El-Deken, is an innocent and trusting man with a simplicity that hints at an undiagnosed mental disability. He is unaware of his wife Nargis's, portrayed by Nahid Sharif, flirtations with her lover Gasser, played by Rushdi Abaza. As Ismail watches his wife dance and sing, believing she is performing for him alone, the reality of her affair with Gasser leads to a tragic climax.
