Shafiqa and Metwally - شفيقة ومتولي
$475.00 $625.00Brother and sister are torn apart by circumstance and modernity, in this heartbreaking drama from director Ahmed Badrakhan. Metwally (the intense and talented Ahmed Zaki) is taken away from his village to work on the Suez Canal project. His sister Shafiqa (Soad Hosny, the “Cinderella of Egyptian Cinema”) is left behind, alone and unprotected from men who wish to exploit her. Passing from one misadventure to the next just to survive, she eventually returns to her village, where she finds there's no escape from the cycle of cruelty and tragedy.
This is a must-have for Soad Hosny fans: master artist Gassour has created one of the best depictions of the beautiful actress here, in brilliant color and with lavish attention to detail. She's pictured in her modest, rural outfit with a floral head cover, against a vivid red background. Cameos of the other stars appear around her, including Zaki above. This is a stunning and unique film poster, featuring two of the screen's most beloved stars together.
