Bird on the Road - طائر على الطريق
$320.00 $450.00Egyptian screen icon Ahmed Zaki plays Fares, a long-distance taxi driver who embraces both the invigorating freedom and sobering danger of the open road. He is hired as a chauffeur by a wealthy man, and together with his unhappy wife embarks on a troubled but ultimately poetic search for happiness. This film is from pivotal “1980's Generation” director Mohamed Khan and co-stars film legend Farid Shawqi, Fardous Abdulhamid and Athar El-Hakim, and was an important film in the Egyptian Neo-Realist film movement.
This poster is gloriously colorful and expressive, and is the work of Samir Abdelmenhem, who brought his skills as a general portraitist to the medium of film poster art. The imagery is dreamy and suspenseful, rendered in a style that wonderfully evokes the mysteries of the open road. Zaki and Abdulhamid are shown almost as ghostly spirits who haunt a nighttime highway, while smaller cameos of the main artists express a range of troubling emotions that hint at their individual searches for meaning and happiness.
