Love's Tears - دموع الحب
$3,750.00One of the first musicals from the talented mind of singer-composer-actor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, this film explores the life of a young man who moves to Cairo and finds lodging in the home of a wealthy botanist. He falls in love with the man's daughter (played by singer Nagat Ali). Mohamed means to propose to her, but discovers that his best friend has betrayed him and proposed to her already, setting in motion a romantic conflict.
This striking rare poster is composed with a brilliant red background and framed with floral and musical elements that appear influenced by the Art Nouveau movement. Additional decorative illustrations – including playful cherubs and a chorus of audience figures – show a link to Renaissance art and earlier film poster traditions. Poster artist Izzeddine was primarily a fine artist, whose work here in red and gold celebrates a wide range of styles and artistic elements that is distinctly modern in its approach and very unique for a film poster of the era.
