The Unknown Man - الرجل المجهول

Safia, a beautiful young woman from the countryside, becomes the object of seductive attentions from Rashwan, the mayor's son. She is already in love with Hamid, but cannot refuse her father's decision to allow the marriage to the former man proceed. When Rashwan proves his ill-intent by attempting to rape Hamid’s sister, an “unknown man” emerges from the shadows to kill him and then hide evidence of the crime.

Artist Gassour chose the perfect design and color palette for this striking and unsettling poster. Mahmoud El-Meligy's face looms from the center, rendered in a terrifying chiaroscuro of lurid yellow, green and black shadows. The other characters surround this image, displaying emotions of concern and fright. The overall effect is sinister and compelling, a uniquely evocative example of film poster art from the era.
