The World in 2000 - العالم سنة 2000

A young man is devastated when he cannot afford the dowry of his wealthy sweetheart, and her father forces her to marry another man. The heartbroken man convinces his scientist brother to use a bizarre new technology on him: he's shrunken down to a much smaller size and proceeds to make his sweetheart's husband's life a living hell. This is the sole science fiction film to emerge from Syria's cinema of the era, and one that carries a prescient message of using technology to make humans' impact on the Earth more sustainable. The film stars Hassan Youssef, Sohair Ramzi, Ziad Moulawy, and Adib Qadoura.

The film's sci-fi theme is reflected in the poster's modern design. A gray-blue background is inspired by space-age imagery.
