Karnak - الكرنك

Based on a popular novel from author Naguib Mahfouz, this revealing film features an impressive cast of Soad Hosny, Nour El-Sherif, Kamal El-Shennawy, and Salah Zulfikar, and is directed by Ali Badrakhan. A group of young university students are overheard discussing politics at a Cairo cafe. Their subsequent arrest and torture destroys their lives and affects the lives of everyone around them. The story is a considered a critique of Egyptian government in the wake of the 1967 defeat.

This sensationalist and harrowing film poster shows three snapshots from the torture of Soad Hosny's character. The stark red background signals the blood and fear revealed in this story. The large title is written in a freehand-style calligraphic font, while the other textual elements are small.
