Directed by Salah Abu Seif and co-written by Naguib Mahfouz, it stars Anwar Wagdi as the determined officer, Mahmoud El-Meligy as the ruthless gangster, and Samia Gamal as the alluring mistress. The film's realistic depiction of crime and justice earned it the Jury Prize at Cannes.
